Award For Local Partnerships

Member for Cunningham, Sharon Bird has today announced the availability of the new Australian Government Community Business Partnership award.

“This award is part of a national celebration of philanthropy, during the inaugural Community and Philanthropy Partnerships Week, 7-13 December 2015, and will now be available to the local Illawarra community throughout the year,” Sharon Bird said.

“This award will be in recognition of community and business leaders working collaboratively to make a real difference to our community and our broader Australian society.

“Community business partnerships play a significant role in Australian society and bring together community organisations with local businesses and philanthropists to help advance Australia’s culture of philanthropy and volunteering,” Ms Bird said.

The aim of this award is to acknowledge the importance of recognising and promoting successful collaborations between grass roots community organisations and their philanthropic partners. It is hoped that these new awards will help foster future collaboration between community and business across Australia.

Examples of those who may be eligible for the award include organisations involved in community business partnerships that have made signification contribution to the community in time and/or effort, have had lasting impacts on the community, or have set a good example of working together to make a difference by addressing an identified need in the local community.

“I encourage any local community groups and businesses who may be interested in nominating a partnership for this award to contact my office for further information and to obtain a nomination form,” Ms Bird said.
