Ryan Park Shadow Minister for the Illawarra together with Sharon Bird, Federal Member for Cunningham have this morning demanded Gareth Ward retract his false claims on ABC local radio that Labor has not contributed to important work on Mt Ousley Road infrastructure projects.
Mr Ward should come clean and clarify to the community what has been funded by Labor and quit playing cheap political games. The community has an expectation their chosen representatives will work cohesively. To take total credit for infrastructure projects when clearly funding was also committed by a previous federal Labor Government and to then claim Labor has contributed nothing to this road is misleading.
It’s time to set the record straight and give Gareth a quick lesson in Illawarra history. The Federal Labor Government contributed 50 percent of funding for the important truck rest stop on the top of Mount Ousley. Mr Ward also should be reminded and let our community know that it was a Labor Government who delivered key road infrastructure including Memorial Drive extension and the Sea Cliff bridge and that Federal Labor committed $42 million in the 2013/14 Budget to upgrades on Mt Ousley Road.

“I will always welcome funding commitments by any government to our important local roads and the commencement and completion of the work. However I will not allow Gareth Ward to re-write history in an attempt to score cheap political points.
