During tough times the Gillard Labor Government is determined to provide practical help to people. From this month, free financial information sessions are available for people in Wollongong.
Minister for Human Services Senator Kim Carr encouraged people to take advantage of the assistance.
“We are committed to helping people plan their financial future. That’s why we provide local, practical services – to help people make informed choices,” Senator Carr said.
“The trusted Financial Information Service (FIS) is a prime example. Since it began it has helped hundreds of thousands of people become more confident in managing their affairs.”
“FIS Officers are local people who can help you. They can help with information on investment options, and making the most of superannuation, annuities, and investments. I urge anyone interested to attend.”
Sharon Bird, Member for Cunningham, and Stephen Jones, Member for Throsby are encouraging people to attend the seminar in Wollongong.
People interested in attending the upcoming FIS seminars should call 13 6357 to secure a place or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Bookings are essential.
Upcoming local seminar at the Wollongong Centrelink Service Centre, 43 Burelli Street, Wollongong:
• Creating Wealth- Getting Started, Tuesday 17 April, 6pm – 8pm
FIS staff are unique in the community. They do not give or sell advice, prepare financial plans or purchase investment products, but they do provide valuable information that can make a big difference to your life.
Note: Financial Information Service Officers are not financial planners or financial counsellors.
