LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS SHARE IN OVER $136,000 THANKS TO VOLUNTEER GRANTS PROGRAM

Sharon Bird visited Woonona-Bulli RSL Sub-Branch today to congratulate them on their grant of $5,000 under the Volunteer Grants 2018 program.

In this grant round, 36 community groups have shared in $136,113 in funding.

The grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 are used by organisations to help with the cost of much needed equipment, training and transport.

Our volunteers play a vital role in our local community and the Volunteer Grants enable them to purchase equipment and help with costs such as training, first aid and transport.

Woonona Bulli RSL Club’s $5,000 grant will assist volunteers at the club with first aid, training and software upgrades to help them to provide the best service possible for their veterans.

“I recently attended Woonona-Bulli RSL’s centenary luncheon and the official unveiling of the new World War 1 memorabilia display which they built using a grant under the Armistice Centenary Grants Program.

“Anyone who visits the Club can view the historic display when they visit for dinner or other events,” said Ms Bird.

“The volunteer team at Woonona Bulli RSL Sub-Branch, like many local community organisations, provides a great service to their members.  They are passionate about ensuring that local stories from local veterans continue to be told and that memorabilia is preserved.”

“I receive great feedback from local community groups about just how much they help small local groups to be able to provide community, sporting and cultural services for our area,” said Ms Bird.
