Wollongong's top University staff honoured

The Gillard Government has presented Citation Awards to some of University of Wollongong’s most inspiring academic and professional staff for their role in enriching student learning.

“Congratulations are in order to the award winning recipients. They have been recognised for developing innovative programs, including new teaching models, to improve student experiences and learning,” Sharon Bird said.

“It is crucial that we have the best teachers in our universities to educate the leaders of tomorrow”.

“These Citation awards re-affirm the crucial role teachers and staff play in delivering quality education and improving the student learning experience in our universities” said Member for Throsby, Stephen Jones.

The Citations recognise a diverse range of teaching contributions, including:

• sustained endeavours in educational leadership and curriculum design;

• sustained commitment to student transition to university;

• increasing the quality of the student learning experiences in engineering

• integrating teaching and research approaches to applied spatial science

• building learning communities in teaching English to speakers of other languages

The Citations are further confirmation of the teaching excellence at our local University.
