Adults helped to tap into community education

21 February 2013

People wanting to learn new skills or find out about upcoming community education events can now find the information more easily, thanks to a new website launched today.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Skills Sharon Bird today announced the new Tap Into Learning Today (TILT) website, which promotes and highlights services across the Adult Community Education sector.

“This website is going to be a national one-stop information shop for services and resources available in Adult Community Education,” Ms Bird said.

“It gives adult learners a user-friendly way to find out more about courses and opportunities that are available in their area and offers the sector an important tool for promotion and engagement.

“It also encourages adults to broaden their skills by highlighting the benefits of lifelong learning through case studies and success stories.

“The website will also be a great tool for service providers such as a neighbourhood house or community college wanting to promote their services.”

Some of the information and services available through include:
• an interactive community calendar;
• course information;
• downloadable resources for service providers; and
• information about funding and grants.

TILT is a joint initiative of the Australian Government working in partnership with state and territory governments.

The website goes live today and more information will be added over the coming months.
