Member for Cunningham Sharon Bird has today announced the first round of recipients of the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program.
“I am really pleased to announce that a total of $44,500 has now been awarded to local organisations under the ANZAC Centenary Local Grants Program” Ms Bird said.
“This Program was established under the former Labor Government to assist and encourage communities across Australia to undertake projects that commemorate the service and sacrifice of Australian servicemen and women in the First World War.”
“I am delighted to see some worthwhile local projects have received funding under this program such as the building of a First World War Memorial at St Therese Catholic Primary School, the restoration of the Wollongong Cenotaph at MacCabe Park as well as two local commemorative services and a street parade.
“$125,000 was made available for each Federal Electorate for projects commemorating the First World War, with more than $84,000 in funding yet to be announced. I will place updated information on my website as soon as I am advised of their approval by the Minister.”
