Sharon Bird today visited the new site for the Helensburgh Men’s Shed and met with local coordinators to discuss their plans for the refurbishment of the shed to get it established and up and running.
Just over two weeks ago a meeting was held at the Helensburgh Tradies to announce that a site for the new Men’s Shed had been leased and refurbishment work was about to commence.
Despite the terrible weather, the meeting was well attended with over 40 men coming along to hear about plans for the Men’s Shed and to discuss funding options.
Sharon Bird encouraged local businesses to get behind the Men’s Shed to help to get the Shed up and running.
“The organisers here have done a great job to get this project off the ground. I understand that they are also consulting widely with the community about the sorts of activities and facilities that people want from their Men’s Shed,” Sharon Bird said.
“I have come along today to make a small personal donation and offer any assistance that I can to help get the Shed up and running. I understand that Menai currently has a waiting list of approximately 170 men, so this is definitely a facility that will be highly valued by the local community here in Helensburgh.
Sharon Bird put out the challenge to businesses and community leaders to support this very worthwhile project and get the Shed up and running.
